The City of Wichita Falls has many benefits available to employees. Some benefits are optional at an additional expense to the employee. The following are benefits that you as a regular employee would be able to enjoy.
Blue Cross/Blue Shield Health/Dental Insurance
An employee may enroll in one of two Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Texas Health Plans. New employees may enroll within the first 30 days of their employment. The open enrollment period for existing employees is during the last two weeks of October and the first two weeks of November of each year.
BC/BS Enhanced Plan BC/BS Core Plan

All City employees who are enrolled in one of the medical plans have dental coverage as part of that plan. There is no cost for the Employee Dental Coverage. Any employee enrolled in a medical plan may enroll their dependents in the Dental Plan even if those dependents are not enrolled in a medical plan.
Dental Premiums: $ 5.00 per month for the spouse
$10.00 per month for all children
$15.00 per month for family
Enrollment for existing employees is during the last two weeks in October and the first two weeks in November of each year. No additions or plan changes will be allowed after the end of the enrollment period of each year. By law, some changes in “family status” must be considered as exceptions to the yearly enrollment period.
On-Site Clinic
The On-Site Clinic is available for use by employees and their dependents. An employee does not have to enroll in any of the City’s health care plans to use the City’s On-Site Clinic. However, dependents not enrolled in a Health Plan are not eligible to use the On-Site Clinic.
$ 5.00 per office visit for any employee or dependent covered by one of the Health Plans.
$25.00 for any employee not covered by one of the Health Plans.
ICMA Retirement Corporation/Nationwide Retirement Solutions
Two 457 Plans are offered to all eligible employees and separate from the Texas Municipal Retirement System. Offered through payroll deduction, this plan is strictly voluntary.
Walgreens Health Initiatives Prescription Coverage
Only those participants enrolled in one of the Health Plans are covered by the prescription card. Dependents covered on the Dental Plan only are not eligible for the prescription card.

Flexible Spending Accounts
Employees may annually set aside up to $2,600 of income for unreimbursed medical expenses. This money is sheltered from payroll taxes.
Life Insurance
Each employee is covered for an amount equal to one times their annual salary. This coverage is through the Texas Municipal Retirement System at no cost to the employee. An eligible employee may choose supplemental life insurance coverage through Aetna Life Insurance in increments from one-half to four times the amount of their annual salary. They may also choose supplemental life coverage for their spouse and/or dependent children up to the age of 20.
Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS)
Participation in TMRS is manditory for all full-time employees with the exception of Fire Department Civil Service personnel.
Participating members contribute 5% of their salary. (Police Department Civil Service employees contribute 7%.)
Retirement requirements: 25 years of service at any age/10 years of service at age 60. Employees are vested after 10 years of service.
At vesting the City matches all current and future retirement fund contributions in the account at a rate of 2 to 1.

Vacation
Vacation time is accumulated at a rate of 4 hours bi-weekly or 13 days a year for the first five years of employment. Starting with the sixth year, this increases to 14 days a year and at the start of the seventh year vacation is accrued at a rate of 15 days a year. An employee may accrue 240 hours of vacation hours.
Extra Vacation Bonus
An employee who does not use any sick leave during the fiscal year will earn two bonus days of vacation.
Sick Leave
Sick leave is accumulated at 4.62 hours bi-weekly or 15 days per year. An employee can accumulate up to a maximum of 90 days or 720 hours of sick leave.
Emergency Leave
An employee may be granted up to 3 days of paid emergency leave per occurence due to a death in the employee’s immediate family.
Credit Union
Membership in the Wichita Falls Federal Credit Union is available to employees and their families. A payroll deduction plan is in effect for both savings and loans.
Tuition Assistance
The City of Wichita Falls provides financial assistance for job related educational and degree programs.
