Description
The Aviation, Traffic and Transportation Department performs fleet maintenance, traffic engineering and transportation planning. The department encompasses the following divisions and areas of service: Public Transportation, Traffic Engineering, Fleet Maintenance, Transportation Planning and Aviation.

          Public Transportation
Falls Ride operates a Route Deviation/ Demand Responsive system to provide mass transit service for the general public of Wichita Falls. Buses can deviate 1/4 mile to pick-up or drop-off passengers. Service is available Monday through Saturday.


The Traffic Engineering Division's responsibilites
include: maintenance and repair of city-controlled outdoor lighting, traffic and warning lights, street signs, maintainenance and repair of the outdoor warning system and parking control duties in the downtown and hospital districts.

            Fleet Maintenance


The Fleet Maintenance Division
 is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week providing repair and maintenance services for over 720 city vehicles and pieces of equipment. This division is also responsible for the purchase of all City replacement vehicles and small equipment.


Transportation Planning
or the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is the regional planning organization responsible for working with local, state and federal governments, the private sector, and citizens to plan coordinated transportation systems designed to move people, goods and services efficiently and safety through the MPO area.

                   Aviation
The Aviation Division operates two public airports.Wichita Falls Municipal Airport services scheduled and non-scheduled commercial flights and private aircraft. Kickapoo Downtown Airport services local and transit general aviation aircraft.
