Gang Injunction Zone
Over the past several years gang members began to migrate to certain areas of our city,as a result the crime rate in that area went up at an alarming rate. The Police Department instituted a revolutionary new idea on how to combat the situation.
The Wichita Falls Police Department along with the Wichita Falls City Attorney's Office and the Wichita County Criminal District Attorney's Office, have established a gang injunction zone. In this area known gang members are prohibited from associating with each other. The court is very specific on what will not be tolerated in this zone. The Police Department enforces the gang injunction rules with zero tolerance. The crime rate in the zone is down and the injunction has resulted in convictions for violations. Other cities are now following our example and using the gang injunction zone methods. The first Gang Injunction Zone is open for the public to view.
